The Action Deafness AGM is at 6pm on Tuesday 12th January.
Have the constitution rules been followed. The constitution states:
'Public notice of the meeting must be given in the area of benefit at least 14 days before the meeting.'
The poster went up on the door on the 4th January only 8 days notice. I cannot find it mentioned on their website at the time this post is published. It is also not on their Facebook page.
Overall, it is not a very public announcement given the fact that they knew all clubs would not be using the centre until after the meeting. Now the cynics amongst you will think that this has been done on purpose, because they want no one to attend.
The poster they have created also states that you must register if you want to attend. This is also in breach of the constitution, which states:
'All inhabitants of the area of benefit of 18 years and upward who are deaf, deafblind, deafened, are hard of hearing or who donate or subscribe to the funds of the charity must be allowed to attend and vote at the meeting.'
Yes, it says must be allowed to attend and allowed to vote. This right has always been denied but it is written in the constitution so if you want it, demand it! Remember it is your right!
Make sure, if you have an interest in the future of this centre, that you attend, and demand the rights that you have been given!
How interesting that the Treasurer has resigned from the trustee's and the finance officer is leaving.
This years carol service is at 3pm on Sunday 20th December, Church of the Good Shepherd, Action Deafness, Welford Road, Leicester. Please make the extra effort to come this year - you'll even get a cup of tea and a mince pie after the service.

Action Deafness are getting rid of the Mini-bus.
This is another blow to the Deaf community!
For some of the user groups this will be a major disappointment. The Youth club, the Special Needs, The over 50's and the Hard of Hearing are all regular users of the bus.
Dan Ryan, receptionist at Action Deafness has been cleared of the allegations made that he leaked sensitive documents.
A member of the Leicester Deaf community stated :-
"the documents contained evidence that the CEO had plans in place to close the Leicester building and the Loughborough charity was to be absorbed into the Leicester charity. They also contain evidence that the CEO has paid for legal advice on how to change the constitution so that the buildings could be sold".
However in a bizarre twist, Dan has not been invited back to work remaining on paid leave, instead he has been told that his position is being made redundant!
A quote from Melanie Morris - member of the Deaf comunity talking about Dan Ryan
"a great worker with the deaf community and i know that cos i see you working there and how you deal with deaf people you treat them with respect. If they let you go then they are a bigger fool cos you are the best one, i sure all the deaf community agree with me".
The person who did leak the documents remains uncaught.
It is good to know that there is at least one other person who is working /worked at Action Deafness who cares about the Deaf community!
The Chaplain is coming back to work.
Church services start again on 8th November. Remembrance Sunday.

What is Force 4 Change?
mosaic, Vista and Action Deafness won a contract to run a ‘User Involvement and Engagement Forum’.
It started in September 2008.
Interpreters are provided and it is about the planning and delivery of social services.
We have recently been asked why nobody from the Deaf community attends?
The barriers faced by Deaf people are not being addressed because they are not being told about them.
The answer is simple. The Deaf didnt know about it!
Action Deafness should be ashamed of themselves.
Where are the signed DVD's telling us about it?
Where is the community liason officer telling us about it?
AD's 'seamless' communication policy strikes again! and who suffers?
Here are the questions put to the trustees
and the trustees response.

The Diocese have stated:
"the decision was taken to end the partnership with Action Deafness"
"significant changes to the context of their work"
"It is taking time to withdraw from the relationship"
"as a result we are not nominating new Trustees"
Where does that leave us?
Without a church that's where it leaves us!
What next?
